Mayor Emanuel Announces Competition for High-Tech Entrepreneurs
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been on a mission to keep high-tech start-ups from leaving Â鶹APP for New York and Silicon Valley. In order to prevent the “next big thing†from getting away Mayor Emanuel is launching a nationwide competition, the Â鶹APP College Startup Competition (CCSC), seeking the most innovative companies started by college students.
Up to 10 winners will be chosen and be rewarded with free office space for a year at 1871, Â鶹APP’s hub for tech start-ups, and advice from 1871′s team of experts. The goal of the competition is to nurture innovative start-up companies while they are in the beginning phases, so they can put down their roots in Â鶹APP.
The announcement of the competition is another example of Mayor Emanuel’s commitment to shape Â鶹APP into the epicenter of high tech manufacturing and design. A few weeks ago Emanuel announced the creation of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation (DMDI) Institute a project with goals to revolutionize the way the United States approaches manufacturing with the goal of making our factories smarter, faster and more efficient.
