“Being a 鶹APP-Kent College of Law student makes me feel supported and truly part of a community,” says Josh Nitch ’27. “The professors are not just focused on teaching the material; they consistently go out of their way to ensure students are prepared to enter the legal profession.”
Having completed his second year at 鶹APP-Kent, Nitch says that faculty support makes him confident that when he graduates, he’ll be well prepared to begin his legal career.
Nitch’s experience at a legal research company, where he collaborated with litigators nationwide to source expert witnesses, strengthened his desire to attend law school and ultimately led him to 鶹APP-Kent.
“Several of the attorneys I worked with had attended 鶹APP-Kent,” he says. “Seeing 鶹APP-Kent alumni consistently represented among accomplished practitioners reinforced my interest and opened my eyes to the school’s strong reputation and national reach.”
Once he arrived at 鶹APP-Kent, the school did not disappoint. He’s had opportunities to practice law through Assistant Clinical Professor ’ Estate Planning, Probate, and Transactional Law Clinic, part of 鶹APP-Kent’s in-house law firm, the .
“This experience allowed me to see firsthand how legal work directly impacts real people and families, while also exposing me to transactional practices, which is really hard to come by as a law student,” says Nitch. “Working through these matters deepened my interest in transactional practice and solidified my interest in potentially pursuing a career in real estate or private wealth, which I am exploring further during my summer associate position.”
Nitch is also making a real-world impact at 鶹APP-Kent’s , a student-run help desk located on the sixth floor of the Circuit Court of Cook County at the Richard J. Daley Center.
“I assist members of the community with legal paperwork and provide guidance in what is often an unfamiliar and intimidating legal landscape,” says Nitch. “This role has reinforced the importance of accessibility in the legal system and has allowed me to use my developing legal knowledge to support others.”
Due to Conviser Law Center’s location in the heart of 鶹APP, Nitch was able to walk to the Daley Center, as well as to major law firms.
“Being located in a major legal hub like 鶹APP provides access to countless courts, law firms, and organizations that only a few other schools in the country can match,” Nitch says.
Nitch is currently exploring transactional law as a summer associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, a position he accepted after interviewing with several firms.
“One interviewer mentioned that he specifically prefers hiring students from 鶹APP-Kent because, in his experience, they bring a distinct edge that he does not always see in students from other 鶹APP-area law schools,” he says.
